Purpose

In this short section it is described, which master data are needed for the production order creation.

Overview

The concept of BOM (bill of material) and routing is introduced with some very basic customizing and function modules. (Of course a material master is also needed for the order creation, but this part will not be discussed in detail in this wiki page. If there is any required setting in the material master, it will be emphasized in the wiki pages of special topics.)

A BOM and a routing are typically needed to create a production order, but this is not a must. It is possible to create an order without BOM and routing, but the order needs to have at least one operation. (It is possible to create an operation based on customizing of OPJG - details: wiki page operations, see link below.)

BOM (bill of material)

- OPL8 (Order type-dependent Parameter) -> OS30 (Application-Specific Criteria for Alternative Determination) -> OPJI (Order of Priority for BOM Usages - if it is not maintained, then the first BOM is selected automatically)

OPL8:

OS30:

OPJI:

transaction: CS01

CS_BOM_EXPLOSION (CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2)

Routing

- it’s not possible to create an order without routing (if no routing is existing, the system checks OPJG (details - wiki page operations, see link below)

- it can happen, that there are more than one routing: the BOM uses the first one (no pop-up to choose), except for batches

OPEB (Automatic selection)

transaction: CA01

for creating a routing a work center should exit (it can happen, that an operation has not any work centers): transaction CR01

CP_EX_PLAN_READ (in transaction CO01)
CO_SD_MAPL_PLNAL_SELECTION (in transaction CO40, if there is no routing in planned order)

BOM and routing in order creation

-   production order creation: transaction CO01

Reading the master data

-   the master data are read only while order creation or while reread master data

-   the data, which is used to read the master data, is the explosion date listed on tab ‘Master data’ (it is important, that the explosion date needs to be after changing date of the BOM, otherwise the changes will not be taken over)
